Atlanta-based journalist

About me

Hey there, thanks for stopping by. I’m an Atlanta-based journalist who writes narrative and investigative stories for newspapers, magazines, and digital media outlets. My reporting has been featured on NPR, Vox, and Kaiser Health News, recognized by Longform and Long Reads, and won several awards.

For the first part of my career, I was a staff writer with several media outlets including STAT, CNN, Atlanta magazine, Creative Loafing Atlanta. A recent graduate of the University of Georgia’s narrative nonfiction M.F.A. program, I currently work as a freelance journalist. Over the past year, I’ve written stories about the man accused of setting fire to an Atlanta highway, the plight of pecan farmers after Hurricane Michael, and the cannabis industry in California, and the trial of a N.S.A. contractor accusing of leaking classified information. My work has recently appeared in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Bitter Southerner, Kaiser Health News, New York Times, Politico magazine, and other media outlets.

I typically write stories that involve health care, criminal justice, or inequality in the South. For the right assignment, though, I’ll travel anywhere. On select assignments, I'll help other journalists with editing, reporting, or additional research for their stories.
